Exciting Home Design News

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to go to not one, but two press events.  Here's what's happening in home design land...

Flor:
In the morning I went to see the new Flor showroom in SoHo.  Their new, two-story flagship store offer customers the tactile experience that was lacking from the online/catalog format that Flor used to use before launching their showrooms.  Additionally, the showroom features a large grid in the middle of the Flor so customers can actually line up their carpet tiles and see what the carpet will look like in their home.  The staff are design enthusiasts and are willing to help guide customers' visions and harness their creativity.

Flor now is offering a brand new line of luxury carpeting called Floresse.  The carpet tiles are 100% wool and come in a large array of colors and patterns.

For those looking for something unique, Flor has launched their latest designer collection.  The designer collection offers the Flor designers a chance to get creative.  This time, they chose a close up image of feathers as their inspiration, creating a truly unique look that can instantly glam up any room.  Sneak a peek at the Fine Feathers carpet here : http://www.flor.com/fine-feathers-multi.html

Flor plans on opening more showrooms throughout the country soon.

Fun facts:
-The SoHo Flor showroom now lends out tiles to designers who are registered with them.
-Shhhh top secret...Greg Colando, the owner of Flor, told me that he hopes to start making smaller tiles to give carpets a pixelated look and brighten up small spaces.

Shaw/Sherwin Williams/HGTV:
HGTV has partnered up with Shaw and Sherwin Williams to bring you a new line of home products that will help you achieve your personal design goals.  Their websites went live last night so now you too can experience everything HGTV has to offer.

Sherwin Williams has created 8 new paint lines to fit your lifestyle.  Their paint lines are not organized by shades of the same color, but by coordinating, complementary colors that make it easy to design one room or a whole house.  Their convenient color cards allow you to bring all of your home's hues with you when you shop for accessories and furniture.

Sherwin Williams will also be offering all of the tools you need to look your DIY paint job look professional.  Their new line will be featured in 2800 stores nationwide.

Shaw has also created four new lines for HGTV.  They are featuring a new line of carpeting in four different styles.  Each style is available in 50 colors.  They also have hardwood and laminate floorings that each come in a variety of styles and widths.  They also have two new lines of area rugs.  "Haven" features jewel tones in traditional to contemporary designs, and "Inspire" features lots of teals and browns with a more contemporary feel.

Shoot for the floor

Blog post day 1.  I have nothing to say but I hope I will soon.  I figured I would make one post of nonsense to encourage myself to write more.  It would really be embarrassing if this were my only entry.

In other news:  24 years and I am still convinced "embarrassing" has one "r."
